GUIDELINE FOR USING MELATONIN FOR CHILDREN:
Before giving a child any form of melatonin, however, speak with a doctor. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommend starting with the lowest dosage suggested on packaging. A dose as low as 0.5 mg or 1 mg may be effective in many children. The use of melatonin appears "to be safe for most children for short-term use," according to the National Centre for Complementary and Integrative Health, a department of the National Institutes of Health. 
 
Melatonin: is secreted by the pineal gland, located deep within the brain, and released into the bloodstream. Melatonin levels regulate the body's natural sleep-wake cycle, or circadian rhythm, adjusting it to day and night.
Valerian (tagar) root extract: health benefits are mainly anxiolytic and sedative, and have been reaped in medicinal forms for centuries. Modern research has proven the usefulness of valerian for: Treating insomnia: Studies have shown that valerian root compounds work on the brain and nervous system, promoting relaxation and inducing sleep. Lowering anxiety: Valerian's sedative properties help relieve the symptoms of anxiety.
L-tryptophan: works in the brain and central nervous system by increasing the production of the chemical serotonin and improves sleep by increasing melatonin.
GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid): is the body’s main neurotransmitter for the central nervous system. The body uses GABA to quiet nervous excitement in the brain and nervous system. Sleep studies show that people who suffer from insomnia have GABA levels which are up to 30% lower than those in people who sleep restfully.
Magnesium Glycinate: is recommended especially for improving sleep. Studies have shown that glycine improves sleep quality. It promotes natural, healthy sleep patterns, including healthy REM cycles. Also reduce anxiety and stress.
Vitamin B6: aids in the production of the hormones: serotonin and melatonin.
